Willie T. Greene, Sr.

Willie T. Greene, Sr. is the current Mayor of Galax and has served on the city council for over 30 years. His professional background includes being a fireman, a restauranteur, and a safety consultant. Growing up in Galax, he experienced housing insecurity, which has shaped his commitment to improving housing opportunities for residents. He was a key advocate for repurposing the Rosenwals-Felts School, which he attended as a child, into a community center and Head Start facility. In 2020, he also served as the president of the Virginia Municipal League.
