Zyahna Bryant is a lifelong Charlottesville resident, community organizer, and student activist. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in African American and African Studies and is currently a graduate student in the Corcoran Department of History at UVA. At a young age, she became known for her activism, including organizing a rally for Trayvon Martin at age 12 and writing the petition in 2016 that led to the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue in Charlottesville. Bryant founded the Black Student Union at Charlottesville High School and has served on the Charlottesville Youth Council and as a Student School Board Representative. She was appointed by Governor Ralph Northam to the inaugural Virginia African American Advisory Board.
