Worked full-time summers and part-time after learning to drive; earned a philosophy degree at the University of Michigan in 2006. Lectured at a university in Thailand for five years starting in 2013. Married and had twin girls in 2017; after losing one at four months, the family moved to the United States in 2018. Entered community journalism in 2021 and took up volunteer firefighting the following year. Describes his campaign as a grassroots campaign with no PACs: 'I don't want $, I want change.'
