Joseph "Lee" Haywood is a small business owner, selling industrial supplies to commercial and government clients. He and his wife, Brenda, moved to Summerfield 22 years ago. Haywood previously ran for U.S. House to represent North Carolina's 6th Congressional District in 2022. He became politically active in 2009, joining the Tea Party and later serving as the 6th District Chairman for the Republican Party. In August 2025, he was appointed Mayor of Summerfield by the Town Council to fill a vacancy.
