Olivia Troye, born in Reno, Nevada, and raised in El Paso, Texas, is a Mexican American national security expert fluent in Spanish. She holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, National Defense University, and Naval Postgraduate School. Her career includes roles at the Department of Defense, National Counterterrorism Center, and as Homeland Security and Counterterrorism advisor to Vice President Mike Pence, where she also served on the White House Coronavirus Task Force. Originally a Republican who voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016, she resigned from the White House in 2020. Troye is now running as a Democrat for Virginia's 7th congressional district in the August 4, 2026, primary, emphasizing non-partisan service and addressing national security threats. She is also an adviser for Defending Democracy Together.
